Criteria for the Western Sydney University Project Scholarship 2026
- be motivated domestic and international PhD candidate
- Hold qualifications and experience equal to one of the following:
- an Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degree,
- coursework Masters with at least 25% research component,
- Research Masters degree, or
- equivalent overseas qualifications.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance.
- Have the ability to program in a variety of computational languages.
- Be willing to learn and carry out high quality research using new research methods.
The Benefits of the Western Sydney University Project Scholarship 2026 include;
- Tuition-fee coverage (supported by the Research Training Program (RTP)).
- Annual living stipend between $35,188 to $42,440 for a period of 3 years.
- Exceptional candidates will get up to $5000 in additional scholarships per annum.
- International students are eligible for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) insurance.

Your supervisor helps you secure funding and placement for the full duration of the program at the Western Sydney University.
If successful, you will then proceed to apply for admission for the program your project falls under.
The list of available research projects are updated periodically on a monthly basis.
Important Notice
Can I apply for more than one scholarship at a time?
- You can only create one application at a time in the application portal. You should apply based on your first preference of project and supervisor.
However, you may be considered for multiple opportunities at the discretion of the relevant School/Institute.
To apply for multiple project scholarships, please attach a cover letter identifying the project scholarships in order of your preferences to your application.
You will also need to attach a letter of support from the Lead Researcher for each project scholarship.
If your application is unsuccessful you can submit a new application for a different scholarship.
